Wondrous Manifestations

“For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God has made, they can clearly see His invisible qualities – His eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God.” Romans 1:20

I feel you in a breeze.

An unexpected gust and your spirit is rushed upon me.

You speak through the rustling of leaves.

Your comforting voice is embodied in the whistling whisper.

Where does the wind go?

When does it end?

Much beauty is revealed through these mysteries.

The movement of the wind is both harsh and destructive,

Reminding me of your power and might.

It is also gentle and soothing,

Evoking peace and calming my spirit.

I feel your presence in the breeze.

I encounter you while fixing my eyes towards the vast expanse of the sky.

The sky is a boundary – a place where the earth stops and an unexplored universe begins.

What beauty lies beyond?

The stars are millions of light years away. To me, they look small.

The allure forces me to gaze in wonderment at these night light spectacles.

Yet you see their beauty in fullness – you know them by name.

I encounter you in that brief moment when lightning strikes brilliantly from a cloud.

In response, thunder roars, causing fear to rise within me.

I am in awe of the sky’s seemingly infinite nature and abilities.

Yet you, the creator of all things, are even more limitless.

This thought overwhelms me with wonder.

I encounter you with the sky.

I glimpse your mighty hand through the great expanse of the waters.

Standing at the edge of the world, I imagine what resides at the other end.

As my toes sink deep into the sand,

I am reminded of how small I am in comparison to the world.

How insignificant I am when likened to you!

Yet, you still desire me.

You search for me . . .

Even to the darkest most desolate place!

Your love for me is greater than the grains of sand,

Than the expanse of the ocean,

And far more than I can understand.

In the same way, water shows me a glimpse of your provisions.

On a hot day, water is refreshing.

It reminds me of how you restore me, cleanse me, renew me, and satisfy me.

You are like a cold drink of water on a scorching day,

Refreshing me in the midst of my desert wasteland.

I glimpse your presence when I see and think of the unique purposes of your life giving, transparent creation.

The waters help me see a glimpse of my creator.

Living in the midst of your artistic designs I feel you, encounter you, and see small glimpses of you.

It is here where I perceive the manifestations of your eternal power and divine nature.

This world shows me you.
