Awe Inspired Fear

There are two types of fear: fear of the world and fear of the Lord. Anything that I am fearful of in this world causes me to run from it, but fear of the Lord draws me closer to Him. Fears in this world should make me run to Jesus for protection, for he has conquered the world! But fear of the Lord (synonym of fear is ‘awe’) causes me to stand in reverence and admiration of Him and all that He is. Fearing the Lord is a recognition of who I am in comparison of who He is. I am a sinner. He is complete and mighty perfection who, by his very breath, created the world. I am encouraged that any fear I have of this world is overcome by God and that He who is actually worthy of my fear/awe loves me dearly.

“Let all the earth fear the Lord: let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him.” Psalm 33:8
