“I will give thanks to You, O Lord my God, with all my heart, And will glorify Your name forever.” Psalm 86:12
Anything that I feel thankful for I need to recognize as a “good and perfect gift from above” (James 1:17), poured upon me as a blessing from the Father of Lights. I need to learn to associate this attitude of thankfulness with God, and not only that but to give Him the glory for all these blessings! Apart from Him, I have no good thing (Psalm 16:2).
I am encouraged that God desires to bless me and to, in turn, cultivate my heart towards thankfulness. The recognition of where these true blessings come from give the glory to the one who deserves it! I want my whole heart to glorify Him because “everything I do flows from [my heart]” (Proverbs 4:23). If my whole heart is thankful for the blessings given from God because of His goodness, then my actions, thoughts, and my body will give the glory to Him too!
